Summary

This template is a computers, mobile phones, and other electronic devices policy for use by an employer to ensure employees understand that they are responsible for company-owned devices, should not expect privacy when using such devices, and may be disciplined for misusing and/or failing to secure them. This template includes practical guidance and drafting notes. This template is intended for private employers. Employers should not only include this policy in their handbooks but also should distribute a standalone policy to each employee with its own employee acknowledgement. It is based on federal law and does not address all potential state law distinctions; thus, you should check any relevant state and local laws.
