Domain Name Purchase Agreement

Summary

This template is a domain name purchase agreement for the transfer of the name from the current domain name registrant to a buyer. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and optional clauses. This template assumes that the domain name has already been registered in the name of the seller, as opposed to the first instance of registering a domain name that did not previously exist. Registration of a new domain name with one of the many domain name registries may be a less expensive alternative if a suitable unregistered name can be found. When transferring or purchasing a domain name it is important to consider the rules of the relevant domain name registry and to ensure that the purchaser is eligible to be the registrant of the domain name.
