Summary

This practice note discusses directed share programs (also called "friends and family" programs). In a directed share program (DSP), the managing or lead underwriter of a company's initial public offering (IPO) will, at the company's request, allocate a small portion of the securities being offered to persons designated by the company, an affiliate of the company, or a selling shareholder.
